Art Galleries, Exhibits and Museums

San Francisco is second only to New York City in its artistic offerings. From museums to performance art, San Francisco always has a lot going on. The driving force behind the infamous Burning Man festival is found in the Bay Area. The overflow of artistic endeavors deluges the Nevada Desert at Burning Man. During the rest of the year, those energies pour forth right here.

Whether your tastes are for the out of the ordinary or tend toward the classical, your artistic appetite will be sated by the unending shows, galleries, exhibits and museums found in San Francisco and the surrounding area.

Top Draws include:

San Francisco Metropolitan Museum of Art (SF MOMA)

Asian Art Museum of San Francisco

de Young Museum (re-opening October 15th, 2005)

Cartoon Art Museum

Cantor Center for Visual Arts (Stanford)
