Bay Area Airports

The San Francisco Bay Area is served by three airports. For more information on any airport, and airport transportation, click on its name.

Mineta San Jose International Airport Oakland International Airport San Francisco International Airport

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

SFO airport is located 13 miles south of Downtown San Francisco. Ground transportation options to San Francisco include car rental, Caltrain, BART light rail, buses and taxis.

Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC)

SJC is 45 miles south of Downtown San Francisco and 2 miles north of Downtown San Jose. Ground transportation options to San Francisco include car rental, Caltrain, buses and taxis. Transportation to Downtown San Jose also includes VTA light rail.

Oakland International Airport (OAK)

OAK is 20 miles west of downtown San Francisco and 12 miles southwest of Downtown Oakland. Ground transportation options include BART light rail, car rental, taxis and buses.

Sacramento International Airport (SMF)

Sacramento airport is not located within the bay area however it is just 91 miles east of San Francisco. Ground transportation options include car rental and Amtrak Rail.
